COLLABORATIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Interacts cooperatively with all Coating team members, production employees, and plant management.
SUMMARY: Operates a spray painter to apply industrial paint finishes on metal products. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Will responsible for selecting and mixing paint to meet job specifications. Will operate spray painting equipment to bring completion to jobs. Demonstrates appropriate behavior in the workplace according to PEI’s employee handbook and complies with applicable health, safety and environmental regulations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Select the appropriate paint or mix paints according to a pre-determined formula.
- Operate spray painting equipment or other product coating equipment as required.
- Operate equipment to clean, wash, strip, sand, remove corrosion or otherwise prepare fabricated steel items for application of paint and or other protective coatings.
- Paint small items and apply touch-ups.
- Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading or painting
- Participates in daily preventive maintenance initiatives, and performs troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment daily.
- Clean and maintain painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air and personal protective equipment.
- Participates in maintaining the necessary work orders and appropriate documents in keeping documentation accurate and current.
- Bring jobs to completion with correct priorities, on time, and with a minimum of supervisory input.
- Use organizational and time management skills to follow work flow on jobs with a minimum of supervision.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
- Performs other duties and activities as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assists in estimating time and material on modifications and installations.
- Ensures that all assigned jobs are properly completed, work area cleaned, and all unused materials are promptly returned to appropriately designated areas.
- Handles and disposes of hazardous waste products in accordance with the facility Hazardous Waste Procedure.
- Responsible for upgrading knowledge, skill levels, and experience on a continuous basis
EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS:

- High school diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area preferred.
- 2-4 years airless paint application preferred.
- Knowledge of blast requirements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to hot and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles typical for painting environments. The noise level within the immediate work environment is not excessive but ear protection within all production areas is provided. While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and walk. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, climb or balance. These activities may occur at any time of the shift. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Assistance may be requested when lifting heavy objects.
